Weekend Shelter Advocate

QUALIFICATIONS: Requires organized individual sensitive to the issue of domestic violence. Applicants need to reflect knowledge
and experience with the dynamics of domestic violence, crisis intervention, provision of support and residential
services, recordkeeping, program management, written and oral communications, and community
collaborations.

Applicants must have the ability to work with a wide range of people, manage their time efficiently, work
independently and as part of a team, and provide advocacy in a non-judgmental, trauma-informed, and
empowering manner. Requires an understanding of and agreement with the philosophy and purpose of the
agency.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Provide direct services, including crisis intervention, shelter intake, advocacy, referral, safety and goal planning. Assist in program development. Maintain the facility in a safe and secure manner. Help ensure the legal operation and general upkeep of the Shelter facility. Assist in maintaining records throughout the shelter, through client files, call logs, and other documentation. Communicate with staff members on resident goals and concerns.

SCHEDULE: Weekend, evening, and overnight hours available. Must be available to work Saturdays, primarily 4:00 p.m.–11:00 p.m. or every other Saturday 11p-8am (overnight). Additional shifts may be available as needed.
